Week 10

Week 10  Week 10... and nearly presentation time. The site is 95% finished. Essentially everything I could do at school is done (asides from improving the purchase form, but finding solutions to that has been difficult). The goal from day one has been met - to create a fully functioning and stunning website in a limited amount of time.  I'm happy for what I've been able to use Muse for, but presenting was something that deterred me from wanting to use muse. Despite working hard hours on this program, people are less likely to want to listen to someone talk about their own website than they would to listen in on some of my pier's projects... robotics, photoshop, music creators and animation are far more captivating and interesting to onlookers than a website... especially a website used for my personal use.  One difference from my Genius hour to some of the others in this class is that I am using it for a specific purpose. One specific goal, nothing really long-...

Week 9

Week 9 (Entire Week) Day 1 (Mon 14)  I brought in the needed supplies to start on the final site. Using what I've learned in addition to a few new techniques, I've created the template to a professional looking site. Overall, plenty was crossed off the "to-do list", but the more I do, the more gets added. Tomorrow I look to tweak the features it includes and watch a video on some additional things I can do to spice up the site.  Day 2 (Tues 15) This day was devoted to states and improving the user interface. It is responsive to mouse hovering and clicking effects. Not only does it look good, but it helps to get around the site better. So far, the site has a simple but appealing design. It revolves around the central theme of "heat", while also staying clean with metal tones. Compared with the current, live site, it's already a night and day difference - and this new site isn't even done.  I'd like to use Day 3 to find som...

Week 7

Week 7 Progress The previous week's site was finalized to an extent that I moved on to try some new designs. The layout of the other site was finished, though the words weren't added as a real site would have. The second half of class was used to try another site. This time, I want to experiment with slideshows, hyperlinks and making it look more professional. Rather than a simple usage of colored boxes, I'd like to try and make something people want  to see when they click on a site.  Upcoming weeks One of the next two classes, I will likely bring in some images, logos and tools for my intended result of using Muse. That would leave me about a month and a half to work on it and finish it for the end of the semester. Depending on how that goes, I may make an effort to master some of the finer details that the program offers that I've yet to discover. What could possibly go wrong? At this point, it's hard to see how anything could go "wrong...

Week 6

Week 6  Muse Progress Finally a website is recognizable after working on Muse for another 80 minutes this week. It's still in the prototype phase and it will not be used for anything. I'm attempting to compile all of the elements which I have learned into an 'imaginary' restaurant's website. Essentially this is to make it easier to find and add pictures. Obviously none of it is authentic, but it is definitely much easier to delve deeper into the program if there's a subject.  I can't deny that there is much still to learn and much more still to do. I'm hoping to finish this prototype next week, perhaps watch some more in-depth videos on the program, then start on the final 'presentation-ready' design in the early weeks of May.

Week 5

Week 5 Progress It may be of concern considering this is not a necessarily easy program to use considering we have 80 minutes per week to apply the skills. More efficient use of time will have to be put into play for a successful site. What has happened that you did not expect? I decided to put the skills learned in some tutorials to use. I learned how to make my own template with color swatches and how to upload images (with the ability to add effects). For the final copy though, I will likely use a downloaded template from a site which I found through a youtube tutorial. It is unexpected to see how big Muse really is: there are tutorials in the hundreds on youtube. This was something that is great to find and expand to the use of the project.  What is the best thing that has happened? Muse clearly has hidden details which I still need to work around. Next week should include a jump in progress that may put widgets to use. Widgets appear to be a huge feature and neces...

Week 4

Today was spent entirely watching the tutorial videos. They gave an in-depth view that displays how Muse works and what we can get out of the program. After viewing them, I was able to create the start of a template in which I understood, unlike previous attempts that were purely experimental. Unfortunately I couldn't follow along in the entirety of the tutorial since the Creative Cloud application is not on the computer, which limits what can be saved and accessed. Many of the tutorials directly correlate to the second-party application. Next week, hopefully the program can be added, which will in effect allow me to begin the first 'real' website.
