Week 2
Genius Hour
What is my project? With the use of Adobe Muse, I plan on creating a professional-looking website in which will help with my pursuit of business as well as a household hobby. The project - hopefully - will demonstrate the ease of use that the company advertises to set them apart from their competitors.
What is my driving question that I am learning?
Does the ease of web design really matter when looking to create an eye-popping display to sell a product from - or does the difficulty in writing code mean more to the underline features?
Who will work with me on this project?
Since I wish to apply what I learn to a household business, this is something I will work on alone. By not having distractions, I hope to make the best possible use of this time.
Why is this project worthwhile?
We already have heavy interest in the local level towards this hot sauce - but to spread the word requires a website - and a good one! Currently, it's an embarrassment, so by using muse, I could change that around. For the benefit of a successful business, and to take the next step forwards, this project has more worth than any other Adobe program.
What do you expect to learn?
I expect to learn how to add a professional look to my company without putting tons of time into it. The website should advertise the product, not deter people from it. At school, I can learn the necessary techniques to mastering Muse, and at home, I can apply it to what I need to.
What product will you have to show at the end of the year to visitors who come to learn from you?
I was hesitant to chose this project because of the presentation. Web design isn't necessarily something I want to present - nor will it be easy to present. There's a chance I may change to something that I enjoy presenting towards the end of the year, rather than struggle to make something people would want to listen to. If I do use Muse as the topic of presentation, I hope to show how easy it really is, all while explaining that there is real-life use to web design.
Who is the audience for this project?
The classes who attend this project would hear the presentation, if I chose to stick with Muse. Nonetheless, the finished website would be seen by anyone interested in the product which I need the website for.
What sort of expenses will be involved in your project, and how will you cover them?
I doubt there will be any expenses for it. There's nothing I need to buy to make this work as a project. Down the road, when I create the real website (most likely at home), Adobe may have to be purchased temporarily.
What sort of equipment will you need and where will you get it?
No equipment is needed. (N/A)
What is my timeline for completing my project?
There is no defined timeline. To accomplish what I need, I only need to learn the insides-and-outs to Muse, such that I can go forth with the creation of a website. During school hours, the timeline is only for preparing for the final project.
My tasks:
- Accomplish the basic steps to finding key pieces of information on the website.
- See how other people have used the website and learn from their example.
- Make a few sample sites to test layers and advance.
- By use of Youtube, see what other people think of the program.
- Create a website which will put all skills together and display my full learning.
- Execute my plan to use Muse towards my company.
How I will present:
It's still to early to say for sure how I will do my presentation. As mentioned in the "What product will you have to display" section, the project will likely discuss practical values to web-design and it's correlation to business. The presentation could just be a display of the progress of websites/time. As I learn the program, I will likely think of more ideas.
